OSAC Lobby - Welcome to the OSAC Annual Briefing

Welcome to the 35th OSAC Annual Briefing

The OSAC Annual Briefing is one of the most celebrated events in the international security community. Bringing together security professionals from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. private sector, this long-standing conference features prominent speakers, networking opportunities, and a distinct space for information sharing among peers.

The Annual Briefing is a forum to discuss best practices on emerging issues and to review lessons learned from recent global events. It is a unique opportunity to connect with seasoned experts and to strengthen ties with fellow security leaders across the public-private spectrum. It also offers attendees access to information to help mitigate risk and protect their staff and assets abroad. The Annual Briefing in-person audience typically comprises over 1,300 safety and security professionals. Since this year’s program will take place in a virtual format, we hope to reach as many of our 18,000 members as possible.

Registration was required to attend the 35th OSAC Annual Briefing; all of the event’s sessions are free. Following registration, Annual Briefing participants received a confirmation email.

Annual Briefing Agenda

To honor the legacy and importance of the Annual Briefing, OSAC’s staff worked diligently to create an event that provides the content, connections, and knowledge-sharing you have come to expect. Given the unique events of this year, the Annual Briefing focused on the challenges and opportunities we have faced collectively, as well as considerations for the security world next year.

As in years past, OSAC invited expert speakers and organized in-depth panel discussions on timely and relevant security and regional topics. Drawing on OSAC’s unrivaled public-private partnership network, the 35th OSAC Annual Briefing offered the information and connections valued by our membership to ensure U.S. organizations can continue operating safely overseas.

Registered Annual Briefing participants received a “Know Before You Go” email in the week leading up to the event with detailed instructions from OSAC staff on how to view Annual Briefing content and what to expect in the virtual format. Our program featured the agenda items below, plus opportunities to view additional On-Demand video content, read analytical reports, and engage with our speakers and your colleagues across the world.

Seasoned experts will focus on the challenges and opportunities we have faced collectively this year and offer informed perspectives on the road ahead.

Given the unique events of this year, our panel discussions will bring together health, safety, and security professionals from the U.S. Government and U.S. private sector to discuss best practices and review lessons learned.

During a time of economic uncertainty and industry disruption, our professional development sessions are intended to help practitioners—at all levels—hone and expand their security and management skills.

Throughout #OSACWeek, presentations from OSAC’s regional analysts and sector committees will be available exclusively on the event platform for viewing on-demand.

Opportunities to Connect and Network

The OSAC Annual Briefing serves as an important connection point each year within the international security community. To encourage personalized connections—especially in this virtual and more solitary environment—OSAC hosted a series of simultaneous member engagement sessions, limited to approximately 15 individuals and themed around a variety of topics. These sessions provided a forum for discussion, friendship, and community.

OSAC celebrates its 35th Anniversary this year, offering an opportunity to reflect on our partnership and community over the past three and a half decades. Although we cannot meet in Washington this year, we hope you enjoy these memories of some of our favorite Annual Briefing moments from the recent and more distant past…
